ABSTRACT
The nutritional status of very thin and thin toddlers in West Sumatra in 2017 falls into the serious category, which is 10.1%. While the highest and very thin nutritional status in Padang City in 2017 was the Nanggalo Health Center, which is 2.25%. One of the factors that influence the nutritional status of children is parenting parents. Mothers who have good parenting tend to have toddlers with normal nutritional status. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of parenting parents with nutritional status of children in PAUD Nanggalo Public Health Center Padang City working area in 2019.
The type of this research is analytic survey with cross sectional design. Data collection was carried out on January 8 to February 7, 2019 in PAUD Nanggalo. Puskesmas working area. The population of this study was toddlers who attended PAUD Nanggalo Health Center working area totaling 166 people with samples of toddlers aged 3-5 years along with 55 mothers. The sampling technique is proportional random sampling. Data collection uses questionnaires, scales and microtoise. Data were analyzed using computerization with chi-square test.
The results showed that respondents who had poor parenting skills, namely 58.2% and toddlers who had abnormal nutritional status, namely 20%. The results of bivariate analysis showed a relationship between parenting parents and nutritional status of children.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between parenting parents and nutritional status of children. The holder of the nutrition program at Nanggalo Health Center is expected to provide information to under-fives mothers about parenting that is considered the most appropriate by adjusting to the situation and condition of toddlers and monitoring the nutritional status of toddlers on an ongoing basis to be able to capture toddlers with abnormal nutritional status.
