ABSTRACT
Based on data from the Padang City Health Service the incidence of anemia in pregnant women increases every year at the Seberang Padang health center in 2016 there were 42 cases (11.5%) and in 2017 out of 11 districts the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women was found in 1308 cases spread of the 22 existing health centers. In the Seberang Padang Health Center, the second highest place, there were 74 cases of anemic pregnant women (20.3%). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of counseling on the knowledge of iron tablets in pregnant women at the Seberang Padang health center in Padang City in 2019.

This type of research was a quasi experiment with the design of the One-Group Pre-test-post-test at the Seberang Padang Health Center in Padang City in October-June 2019 in pregnant women. Data collection is carried out on 10-15 June 2019. Samples were taken by purposive sampling with a total sample of 20 people from 362 people. The intervention method used is the lecture method. Data collection using a questionnaire. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate with the Paired Sample T-Test statistical test.

The results showed that the average knowledge before being given counseling was 11.50 and after being given counseling about iron tablets was 17.90. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was an effect of counseling on the knowledge of iron tablets in pregnant women with a p value = 0,000 (p
