ABSTRACT

The number of patients with cervical cancer in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Hopital Padang in January - September 2018 as many as 273 cases, an increase of 147 cases from 2017. One of the treatments for cervical cancer with chemotherapy, the side effects that are often caused are nausea and vomiting. This study aims to determine the effect of mozart's classical music therapy on complaints of nausea vomiting in post-chemotherapy patients with cervical cancer in the midwifery oncology room in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Hospital Padang on 2019.
The type of research is quasi experimental non-randomized with control group pretest-posttest design conducted on February 5 to March 28, 2019. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 20 people. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, processed manually and computerized analyzed by paired t-test and significance level 95% (α = 0.05).
The results obtained in the intervention group showed a decrease in the degree of nausea and vomiting, before intervention 11.30 (moderate category) and after intervention 8.10 (mild category). The difference in standard deviation of the degree of nausea and vomiting before and after therapy is 1.3984 with a value of t count of 7.236. The result analysis using paired t-test obtained p value = 0,000. While the control group increased the degree of nausea and vomiting, from 9.90 (medium category) to 12 (moderate category).
It was concluded that there was an influence of mozart's classical music therapy on complaints of nausea and vomiting in post-chemotherapy patients in cervical cancer oncology room in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Hospital Padang on 2019. The researcher suggested that the hospital could use mozart's classical music therapy as a non-pharmacological therapy to reduce nausea and vomiting for post-chemotherapy patients.
