Overview of Management of Pre-elective Surgery and Nutritional Status in Surgical Patients in dr.Rasidin Padang Hospital in 2019

ABSTRACT
Malnutrition can arise from hospitalization due to illness or insufficient nutritional intake, but it is not uncommon for malnutrition to arise during the period of hospitalization. Especially in elective preoperative patients who have a risk of malnutrition before surgery, it is necessary to provide appropriate pre-surgical diet management, thereby shortening the period of hospitalization and maintenance costs. The aim of this study was to determine the description of elective preoperative diet management and nutritional status in surgical inpatients in RSUD Dr.Rasidin in 2019.

This research is a descriptive study with a Cross Sectional Study design, carried out from August 2018 - May 2019 in RSUD Dr.Rasidin Padang. Sampling uses the Non-Probability Sampling technique using Accidental Sampling, which is a sample of 30 respondents taken within 7 days, and processing data with univariate analysis to see the frequency distribution of elective preoperative diet management and nutritional status of surgical inpatients.

Management of elective preoperative diets based on the frequency distribution results found that all respondents underwent minor surgery with a type of digestive and non-digestive surgery. Pre-operative diet management in respondents with type of digestive surgery was given food that adjusted to the digestive ability of the respondents. And the general condition of respondents who are expected to be optimal can be seen from nutrient intake which has increased SMRS and MRS or before surgery on average increases to 50-80% of the total daily needs. However, nutritional status is still constant, only changes in BMI have increased to 7 respondents.

Suggestions are given so that this research will be continued and discussed in more depth by using different instruments, namely SQ-FFQ to see the consumption patterns of respondents.
